Week 2 Recap

We had a small turnout on what threatened to be a rainy and windy evening. There were a total of 25 players. For the most part, we stayed pretty dry. There was wind, but not as bad as week one.

There were no aces, so the ace pot grows to $56.00 and the Rainy Day Games first ace bounty remains unclaimed. The secret ace was hole 6.

Luis Nava won a Champion Roadrunner, patch, mini, and sticker donated by Stumptown Disc Golf on the hole 4 CTP. Chris Graham donated two Innova marker discs which were claimed by Shannon Helser on hole 5. Tim Price donated a 10 M Brick (putter) which was claimed by Matt Gilispie who canned the longest putt on hole 2.

The Next Adventure Secret Score was +5, and was unclaimed this week.

This blog isn't the greatest for formatting, so I'm going to hold off on season standings until I find something better. I hope to have something in place within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to our sponsors Next Adventure, Rainy Day Games, Stumptown Disc Golf Club, Chris Graham, and Tim Price. Thanks also to everyone who made it out this week. See you next week!

Finally!

We're finally here. Tuesday. Could today go any slower?

There's one more suprise to announce: Rainy Day Games has donated a 20th Anniversary Echo Star Roc that will be awarded to the first person to grab an ace this year. Will it be tonight? Next week? Week 5? Who knows. You'd better get that ace early, just to be sure.

See you tonight!

A few changes

I've made a few minor changes to the format this year:

1) $10.00 will be kept out of each weeks payout and be saved for the finals. $10.00 x 18 weeks means there will be a pot of at least $180 to play for in the final week. The weekly payout and ace pot will be slightly smaller, but not too noticeable.

2) The playoffs will be expanded to include roughly 10% of the total field for the season, with a minimum of 12 players. If 160 unique players play at least one event, there will be 16 players eligible for the playoffs the final week. The only catch - you must play at least 10 weeks to make the playoffs. Last year we had 190 unique players. I'd love to see at least 200 this year, which would expand the playoffs to the to 20.

3) The A/B pool format that was used last year will be eliminated. All pairings will be chosen completely at random. Pairings will be drawn on the spot. A certified auditor* will be on hand to ensure that everything is 100% random.

*Probably not. But there will be 54 players ready to flog me if they detect anything shady. Believe me, that's enough.

We're only one day away. Final preparations are being made. I've got one more surprise in store, but I think I'll save that for tomorrow. I hope everyone is as excited as I am.
